So I have been away from the blog for a while – apologies. I have been really getting stuck into work and doing a lot of research preparation rather than engaging with the public however today I was at ThinkTank in Birmingham as a “Meet the expert” where we hosted a session on children’s medicines. We talked to parents about the acceptability of medicines and how this should be measured; I ran a simple taste test with chocolate to highlight what it is like to be part of a clinical trial and we gave out lots of activities for children to do including badge making, wordsearches and crosswords to highlight aspects of medicines that are relevant to children. There were more than 3000 visitors today during half term so it was a great opportunity.
I am also preparing to give a TED lecture in March on children’s medicines which is a really exciting opportunity to share my thoughts with a wide audience – I am still thinking of the key aspects that I want to include so talking to children and parents today was a real inspiration
